Reading after you leave college is so much fun.  It’s enjoyable to simply soak in the information without worrying about what content you need to use to write a paper, or how you are going to be graded on your recall of chapter 13.  It’s just learning for the sake of it.  The stress is gone from college, and life is now the focus.

When students go abroad the often experience culture shock.  There are multiple stages, but for our purposes it is just the difficulties that people go through making adjustments to their new surroundings.

Why doesn’t anyone ever talk about graduation shock after leaving college?  It is the same thing.  The adjustment is big and you will not be going back and doing the same things you did before.  You now have to use the skills you’ve learned, but most students aren’t exactly sure what those skills are.

Welcome to life outside the four years.  Now you have to decide if you want to go back for more, or make your way in the world on what you have.  Don’t worry if it is a little unsettling.  It is for most people.  But at the same time you will have adjustment periods all throughout your life.  Get used to it!
