Defining Why You Want Money

What sounds amazing to you?  What do you dream about doing or having?  Is it a house?  Is it a Lexus?  Is it a trip around the world?  Is it 2.3 kids?  Is it baking a cake without a box?  Define that and then look at where you are and figure out how to get there.  (If you read the dream/plan/adventure section this should look familiar.)

Everyone wants something different, so figure that out first and start looking at how to get it.  Find people who have done what you want to do and look for ideas and strategies that have worked.

This is where you stop following the manual set out for you so many times in school and start drawing a map to where you want to go.  Take a long hard look at why you buy things?  Is it to impress other people? Because most likely they don’t really care.  This is a left over habit from first grade when we figured out that other kids had cooler toys than we did.  Tell me you never felt bad because you did not have the latest Buzz Lightyear costume at halloween?  Adults do this all the time!!!

If you don’t learn to say no to yourself, you will always be wondering where all the money went?!?!?  Paradoxically, investing to find what you are good at and love to do is priceless.  (This is why money can be confusing.)
